What are Parabens?
Parabens are used as preservatives in many cosmetic products. They preserve products in our bathroom cabinets for months or even years. However, when we use these chemicals, they enter the skin and remain within the tissue. Some also enter our bodies through the skin.
Risk to our skin! Skincare products with parabens accelerates the skin aging process! Research indicate that parabens increase our skin’s sensitivity to and damage from the sun. Exposing parabens to the sun’s ultraviolet rays, it causes skin cells to age and die much faster.
Women you are at risk!
Studies reveal that parabens disrupt our reproductive system and mess with our hormone levels as they actually mimic oestrogen. Too much oestrogen may cause an increase in breast cell division and growth of tumours. It is no wonder why this baddie has a link with breast cancer. Studies now show that 1 out of 8 women in the U.S will develop breast cancer.
Men you are also at risk! Parabens interfere with men’s reproductive system and several studies reveal that sperm count and testosterone levels decrease with the body’s absorption of parabens.
Children are at risk! Studies reveal parabens can contribute to developmental disorders, dysfunction of the immune system and learning problems.
Our environment are at risk! Parabens are bad for our planet too. They are found in the bodies of our precious marine life. They wash into the oceans and ultimately makes it back into our food-chain.
Our advice is to consider using natural products instead. Parabens is not worth it the risk.
